Biography
Wim Vandenbussche (°Bruges, 1973) is a professor of Dutch and general linguistics. His research is situated in the domain of historical sociolinguistics, with particular attention to the language situation in Flanders during the 18th and 19th century. He teaches courses on Dutch and Germanic language history, as well as on various aspects of sociolinguistics. At VUB he also chairs the Academic Language Centre ACTO and serves on the University Council. He is a member of the Royal Academy for Dutch Linguistics and Literature, the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters and the Brussels Council for Multilingualism. He was one of the founders of HISON, the Historical Sociolinguistics Network, and is the current president of the International Society for Dutch Studies (IVN).
