Prof. Dr. Tatiana Pieters

Tatiana Pieters received a Ph.D in French linguistics from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Université Libre de Bruxelles in 2020. Her research investigated first language (L1) influences on the second language (L2) acquisition of French grammatical gender. In order to perceive L1 influences,she included learners from a variety of L1 backgrounds, including French-, German-, Spanish and English-speaking learners of French as a second language. Prior to working on her doctorate, she received a master’s degree in French, English and Spanish linguistics and literature at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She is currently working as a practice assistant in French linguistics at the same institution.
