Maria Fernanda Salazar
Biography
Maria Fernanda obtained a bachelor’s degree in foreign Language Education with a Specialization in the English Language from Univeresidad Católica Luis Amigó in 2023. During her studies she also worked as a middle school English teacher and Cambridge Exams Officer at Marymount School Medellín. She enrolled in the MUMA programme in 2024 and is currently working under the supervision of Esli Struys. Maria Fernanda's research focuses on the effect of language mixing on word learning in adults studied from an auditory recall perspective. Through computer-based experiments, she investigates the impact the type of language mixing and the age of the participants can have on the speed and accuracy of their auditory recall of information in both single-language and mixed-language contexts. As such, her main research interests lie in the fields of multilingualism and cognition and multilingual language processing.
