Margaux Plasschaert
Biography
Margaux Plasschaert is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Literary and Linguistics, with a focus on Dutch and English at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She is expected to complete her undergraduate degree in 2027. Although she has not yet had the opportunity to gain international experience, she hopes to participate in a study-abroad or other international experience in the future. After completing her bachelor’s degree, she intends to continue her studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel by pursuing a Master’s degree in Dutch Linguistics. As part of the Talent for Research program, she is working in the research group of Prof. Dr. Rik Vosters and Dr. Eline Lismont, where she is involved in a historical sociolinguistic research project examining language variation among adolescents in the nineteenth century. Her personal linguistic interests include the influence of digital media on language use and the development and characteristics of youth language. In particular, she is interested in how new forms of communication and digital environments influence the way young people use and adapt language. Margaux hopes to further develop her academic and research skills through the Talent for Research program.
