Kätlin Järve
Biography
I started my PhD studies at VUB in February 2021. My supervisor is Prof Koen Kerremans. For the past 17 years, I have worked as Translator/Terminologist at the European Parliament. Now I work half-time and dedicate the second half of the week to research. My research interests stem from the practical needs of translators and terminologists working for the EU institutions. In a way, I act as a link between the academic sphere and the daily reality of a multilingual international institution, trying to put theoretical knowledge into practice and, vice versa, use our practical experience to contribute to the academic discourse. So far, I have presented my research at three international conferences and now I am writing my first articles. My working languages are English, Estonian, Italian, and to some extent also French, Finnish, Russian, and a bit of German.
