Dr. Aaron Vandendaele
Biography
I graduated from Ghent University (Belgium) in 2019 with a master in Experimental Psychology. After this, I spent some time at Aix-Marseille Université (France), where I researched orthographic processing and lexical integration during reading with Jonathan Grainger. In 2020, I was awarded an FWO fundamental research PhD position to continue this line of research together with Marc Brysbaert (Ghent University). During my PhD, I visited Phil Holcomb at San Diego State University (USA), where we used EEG to further study lexical processing. In 2024, I defended my PhD titled 'Parallel word processing during reading'. As of 2025, I'm a postdoctoral researcher at the Brussels Centre for Language Studies, where I investigate the neurolinguistic underpinnings of bilingual language control and the overlap between language and executive control.
